The Chicken Keeper

I can't believe it, I really still can't believe it as I stare down at the baby chicks inhabiting my kitchen! I pulled the trigger and got 6 baby chicks. I have been obsessed with getting chicks since my husband told me about them at Tractor Supply in March. I checked out every library book on raising chickens (I hope no one else was trying to check chicken books out) and have read up on everything there is to know about them, but I am still scared! What do I really know about raising livestock of any kind? I am a suburban girl thrown into the country!

They are fascinating little creatures to watch. As soon as we got home we knew which chick was Gabrielle's because it is super curious and sings LOUDLY all of the time. She named her Luey. Well, according to Gabrielle, they are all named Luey! There is another chick that is very much like Giana, quiete, laid-back and likes to sleep. Right now she calls it Dema. I got naming rights to two of the chicks and mine are Mable and Ester. Mable is the really yellow one and I haven't decided which one is Ester. Jim at first wanted to call his LuLu and then Bob and I am not really sure what now and Olivia said she would like to call her's Poachy but once she actually sees them she might change her mind.

Gabrielle likes to play with them and Giana would like to touch them too but she is an obsessive thumbsucker and I am a mad freak about her touching them and then putting her thumb in her mouth! I watch them like a hawk making sure as soon as they are done touching the birds they thoroughly wash their hands and then use sanitizer!

What have I gotten myself into?

Urban Toddler Again!

We went to Urban Toddler again when we picked up Gigi's new big girl glasses. The girls really love this place and I kinda like it too. It is small enough that I can keep an eye on the girls and most of the time it isn't too crowded and the girls have a blast. Lots of photo ops for me too. We will be going again next Friday with the Mother's group I belong to. I hope they all have as much fun as we do.

Reversible Fabric Cuff Bracelet

Here are the pictures of the Reversible Fabric Cuff Bracelet I made for Gigi. She can wear it when she is feeling pink or wear it when she is feeling purple. It is my first attempt at the bracelets, so they are not perfect, but I sure think they are neat!

My Newest Creations

The picture doesn't do this justice. It is gorgeous!

I have had the create and crafting bug for awhile now. I have so many projects floating in my head, it is amazing that I can see straight! Unfortunately I want to do it all and am having a hard time concentrating on any one project. Bows, bow holders, door hangers, fabric cuff bracelets, sock animals...I need to do it all!!
Anyway....here are my latest creations. I am so proud of, amazed at and in love with my latest (Large) Tutu Bow Holder. It is a piece of art. I want to hang it in my room for art instead of hanging it in Princess Gigi's room for bows! I also finished a new Tinker Bell Bow for Gigi and a fabric cuff bracelet (picture to come). While making the fabric cuff bracelet I had an idea to make a hair bow out of fabric! I think it came out pretty good considering it was just a concept in my head and it was the first time doing such a thing. I finished it off by covering a button with the same fabric and sewing it on. In a funny way it reminds me of a clown bowtie. I almost expect the middle to spin around and squirt water!! hahaha...but it doesn't.

Imagination at Play

The girls and I had to drive up to Ann Arbor today to pick out new frames for Gabrielle. Her lense prescription changed and she was due for new frames. She got to pick out big girl glasses (the ones that don't have rubber wrap around arms). Her only request was that they HAD to be PINK! She wasn't convinced at first because the pair she tried on was not pink (they have to order the pink ones) but the Optical lady showed her the cool pink princess purse she will get with her new glasses and she was sold! Since we drove to Ann Arbor I decided to take the girls to Urban Toddler in Saline so they could do some imaginative play. We spent 2 1/2 hours there and they loved it. The last time we were there Giana was just a baby and could only go to Infant Park. She had a riot going to the library, market and other play areas.

Ballet Tutu Hairbow Holders

I did it! I have been working on this ballet tutu bowholder for a few weeks now trying to make it perfect. This is my first go at it and it still needs more work but I can't wait to make more! This is a miniture bowholder, I am going to try to make a bigger one too. I am really obsessed with this stuff, is that wrong? hahaha. So what do you think?

My New Creations!

Gabrielle loves her tutu.

Valentine's Tutu. I ran out of Tulle so it isn't

finished yet.

Princess Hair Bows

Korker Ribbon Hair Bows

(My first ever bows!)

I am so proud of myself! I got the bug to start making hair bows and tutus for the girls. I don't know what made me think I wanted to do this but I am glad I did. I am having so much fun and it is nice to have a "hobby". Gabrielle really enjoys the stuff I am making too, she is my best cheerleader. I can't wait until Giana has hair too! I am just a beginner so these are by no means perfect, but after I practice making more, they will be (I hope!). One of my biggest problems is getting the second bow to look just like the first bow.
